Aircraft Asset Assessment

September 3, 2007

Market Presence. The -300 has been in service for nine years suggesting that the operation of 60 aircraft represents a limited quantity. However, as the B777-300 is of similar capacity to the B747-200B and features a net price of less than $100 million, the 60 orders placed to date still represent a sizeable investment. The limited range of the -300, at least with respect to the capability of most other current widebodies, makes it suited to the needs of a relatively limited number of operators. The operator base is dominated by Asian carriers which could pose problems for future remarketing. Though all three engine manufacturers are in theory represented on the -300, at present only the PW4000 and Trent are in evidence.
