GTF: The Engine That Promised Everything—and Grounded Too Much

The Geared Turbofan (GTF) was supposed to be Pratt & Whitney’s masterstroke: a clean-sheet architecture that would slash fuel burn, cut noise, and reset the economics of single-aisle flying. Technically, it delivered. Commercially, it still might.
