The regional jet market is sometimes more reliant on relatively high fares than mainline services and can face stiff competition from surface transportation, not least high speed trains in Europe and with the cost of living crisis hitting hard after the peak summer season, demand can be sporadic rather than consistent. The difference between profit and loss for the regional operators is that much finer and while there is substantive demand, passengers may not always be willing to absorb significant increases in ticket prices.
