Aircraft Asset Assessment

November 25, 2019

Market Presence. The B747-400 represents the core of an ever smaller number of major carriers fleets around the world. Performance, economy and capacity were unmatched and had become the baseline by which all other types are judged. In designing the A380, Airbus had to reduce operating costs by some 10-15 percent compared to the B747-400, a task that proved difficult even with the aid of a greater seating capacity. Values of even the youngest are now less than $10 million. Calculating the green time remaining on the engines can be a fools errand.
