Market Presence. The -500 has a limited market presence though there are over 90 operators of the type with many operating less than five units. With perhaps 120 in storage and 200 scrapped, the market for the type is limited even for those which incorporated winglets. In contrast to the B737-300 and -400 there is also no appetite for freighter conversion. The limited onward operator base and the large number on the market provides sufficient cause to be aware that the type is no longer suited to asset-based financing.
